Coming back to Substack
in the New Year of course!
Going to be trying something different in the New Year to see if it works for me.
I’ve been bullet journalling on and off for several years now and I’ve been looking for a digital way of doing this and nothing has worked for me so far, but it feels as though it should be easier for me to do digitally as I spend so much of my time online and on the laptop.
So I’m going to try using the blog to sort out my various task lists and journalling ideas all onto one place to make things easier to find and break down into workable tasks.
There is going to be one heck of a master list initially and I’ll be building that up over the next couple of months and doing that will give me time to complete the page a day diary I’ve been using to journal this year which again hasn’t worked for me properly.
These are also going to act a bit like accountability posts, though there is no longer any pressure to graft and perform as I was doing, I still need a kick up the arse now and again to get anything done.
This will also be a way of me working through my photo archive, editing it, deleting those that are just snaps and adding a photo to Redbubble.
I’ve already posted the picture above to the blog but have decided to start from the beginning of my archive and work my way through methodically.
Sentinel
This was one of my earliest ever digital images taken with the Canon EOS 350D, I loved the clarity that this sensor had, though looking at it now it does not seem as clear as I remembered.
This is a concrete sentinel along the causeway between Cramond and Cramond Island.
This was one of my main haunts when in Edinburgh during the late 70s and early 80s.
Each journal post will be built up throughout the day, beginning the previous evening by working on the image for the post, editing it and adding it to Redbubble.
Then there will be a small list of tasks/goals for the day, starting off with three and building if I get more done, using the guide below to show how I’m getting on with them.
↞ to put back in master list
↠ to move forward to next day/month
☐ open task
☑ completed taskno longer going to do task
There may also be thoughts and gratitude writing, new ideas for the blog, more tasks to add to the main list, and other bits and bobs a bit like a commonplace book.
All this will develop as I work out how I like to do things and at the end of each day I’ll post that post to here for those of you who just want to follow on Substack.
So look for this starting from the 1st of January.
